Abstract
Košarka je danas drugi najpopularniji sport u svijetu iza nogometa a kod nas u prošlom stoljeću možda i najpopularniji sport u zlatnom dobu Cibone i Jugoplastike. Sport sličan košarci se pojavljuje još u indijanskim narodima srednje Amerike a današnju igru je patentirao doktor James Naismith. Prva košarkaška utakmica u Hrvatskoj se odigrala 1929. godine u Zagrebu. Hrvatski košarkaški savez ponosi se brojnim uspjesima seniorske reprezentacije kao i onima u mlađim kategorijama. Cibona je više puta mijenjala svoje ime no ulaskom velikih industrija dobiva sadašnje ime. Splitom je u početku dominirala ženska košarka do dolaska Branka Radovića i ulaskom tvornice Jugoplastika u sponzorstvo kluba. Ova dva kluba su osvajali brojne trofeje u bivšoj državi pa tako i na europskoj sceni. Zahvaljujući uspjesima ova dva kluba, reprezentacije Jugoslavije i Hrvatske su ostvarile brojne medalje na velikim natjecanjima i ostavili neizbrisivi trag u razvoju Hrvatske košarke. Danas financije i vođenje ova dva kluba predstavljaju probleme u vraćanju imena na sami vrh europske košarke.
Abstract (english)
Today, basketball is the second most popular sport in the world behind football, and in the last century, perhaps the most popular sport in the golden age of Cibona and Jugoplastika. A basketball-like sport still appears in the Indian peoples of Central America, and Dr James Naismith patented today's game. Croatia's first basketball match took place in 1929 in Zagreb. The Croatian basketball Federation is proud of the numerous successes of the seniors' team and those in the younger categories. Cibona changed her name several times, but with the entry of large industries, she got her current name. Women's basketball initially dominated the Split until Branko Radovic arrived and the Jugoplastika factory entered the club's sponsorship. These two clubs have won numerous trophies in the former state, including on the European scene. Thanks to the two teams' success, the Yugoslav and Croatian teams achieved numerous medals in big competitions and left an incontestable mark on the development of Croatian basketball. Today, the finances and management of these two clubs present problems in bringing their names back to the very top of European basketball.
